Level Ground Arts is thrilled to announce our 2012 Season. We’ve done some pretty crazy and engaging projects since we started doing shows just a few short years ago. This season we take the madness, mayhem and mirth to a whole new “level” with a slew of INCREDIBLY COOL projects with some INCREDIBLY VISIONARY Directors and Creative Teams!

LORD OF THE FLIES
March 2-18, 2012
A plan crashes on a deserted island. The only survivors are a group of students. They live in a land of bright exotic animals and deep blue seas, but at night their dreams are inhabited by a terrifying beast.  Soon this well behaved group of young women turns into a bloodthirsty and murderous tribe. Performances at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 North Stemmons.

LEGALLY BLONDE
June 1-23, 2012.
College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn't take no for an answer.  So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law!  Performances at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 North Stemmons.

SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET
August 10  September 1, 2012
The ultimate tale of vengeance and murder tells the story of a barber driven to crime when his wife and child are taken from him by an evil judge. Performances at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 North Stemmons.

UBU ROYALE
October 5-27, 2012
Regional Premiere

The cautionary tale of Ubu Royale comes fresh on the heels of a prolonged cycle of deposed dictators and exposes the disappointment of a society who had foolishly expected the coming of a new age of hope and reason with the selection of a charismatic leader.  LGA will perform this classic political satire as a slap-stick dumb show, employing stylized movement, original music, puppetry and dance to tell the prescient and preposterous story of a narcissistic tyrant in a world gone mad. The foreboding and hilarious Ubu Royale is destined to be a must-see event of the Dallas theater season. Performances at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 North Stemmons.

SANTA CLAUS VS THE MARTIANS
December 7-29, 2011
LGA is proud to bring back this original play by Andi Allen.  It's Santa.  It's Martians.  It's based on a really bad movie.  Lots of fun!  The Martians kidnap Santa to bring Christmas to their children and two Earth children stow away on the Martian spaceship and help save Santa.

THE NEW YORK GOOFS IN HELLZAPOPPIN 

February 24, 25, and 26, 2011
A circus atmosphere sets the mood in this comedy hodgepodge full of sight gags and slapstick. It’s like Rowan and Martin’s “Laugh In”, only more dated. There will be trained animals and dancing girls with a smorgasbord of explode-the-fourth-wall-nuttiness.  A contemporary physical comedy romp for the whole family. It’s like CirqueDu Soleil for the 99 percent. A World Premiere!  Production will run Friday nights at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm at CATS located at 1100 W Randall Mill Rd, Arlington, TX.

THE LITTLE MERMAID JR

In a magical kingdom deep in the sea, a beautiful young mermaid longs to leave her ocean home to live on the land.  But first she will have defy her father, make a deal with an evil sea witch and convince the Prince that she's the one.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Rogers and Hammerstein's classic story of a woman that leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess of the children of a naval officer widower as Austria comes under the control of the Nazis

Shakespeare's Macbeth is a play of contradiction and ambition.  Driven to become King, Macbeth will kill all and any that get in his way.

THE RAFT OF THE MEDUSA

In an AIDS support group, members of the group discover that the disease they share can divide as effectively as is conquers.  But it also brings them together, reaching for their own comfort while they search for unattainable answers.
